From one mom to another…

I don’t normally share personal stories about my kids much outside the podcast, but I had to share this short story about how faithful the Lord is!

My son Jake just turned 8 for reference. When he was born, he had severe colic that lingered for 9 long months and major GI issues. Today, 7 years later we are sitting at the GI doctor for a 3 hr test and still deal with GI issues. I want to say, that I realize this is minor compared to some things you all may be facing like special needs or terminal illnesses, however it’s just been our journey with Jake. A journey if I’m honest, especially that first year with non stop crying, 8 different formulas, constant doctors appointments and staying up late trying to research what I could do to help him—all made me very anxious.

Today as we wait for this test, I hear a baby screaming next door. I immediately start praying for that mom. My heart goes out to her so deeply it hurts, without even seeing her face. Then I open up my devotional for today and the topic is “Don’t Worry” with the verse Philippians 4:6-7…the verse that I clung on to for dear life that first year of Jake’s life.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians: 4: 6-7

I’m emotional that the Lord has brought me full circle today from where I was and where I am now! My idea for this ministry for moms was birthed out of the compassion the Lord gave me to encourage moms after what I went through those 7 1/2 years ago to stay faithful. To hang on to God’s promises. He is peace beyond our own understanding.

I don’t know where you are today—a mom’s heart is always prone to worry for her kids at any age. For those that may have needed to hear this little piece of my journey today, I want to encourage you to hang on and cling to the Lord.

Whether it’s your baby, young child, teen or adult child….sicknesses to bad choices and everything in between that keep us up worrying late at night—take it ALL to the Lord today. Nothing is too big or too insignificant for God!
